Highlighting a Rock Star Volunteer
Allan has been a dedicated volunteer since March.
This month we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Allan Michael Zaharia, one of our rock-star volunteers helping CT residents reduce their energy waste by 20 percent. Allan started volunteering with the Neighbor to Neighbor Energy Challenge in March after searching for opportunities to develop his skills in data entry. He has become an invaluable member of our team, helping us to get weekend sign-ups from the field to our approved contractors first thing Monday morning.
“I really enjoy working in the office, because I like being in an environment with other young people. Helping out has given me experience with data entry and attending Neighbor to Neighbor workshops has taught my mom and me how to save energy in our own home.”
Allan excels at data entry, because of the ease with which he navigates an iPad, his attention to detail, and his methodical approach. He enjoys using his personal iPad to search the internet and watch movies. Allan also has a deep appreciation for reading and frequents Barnes and Noble.
The Neighbor to Neighbor Energy Challenge is a grassroots program, meaning that its success relies on the involvement of community members. Without volunteers, the goals of this program cannot be met.
Opportunities are available to help with traditional and social media, working with local community leaders, data entry and event planning. Some duties can be done from home. No experience necessary!
