Community Corner: William Ryan

In August, William Ryan of Mansfield decided to embark on Neighbor to Neighbor’s path of energy saving by starting off upgrading the lighting in his home through the Neighbor to Neighbor Lighting! program.

When the Clean Energy Corps replaced his old incandescent light bulbs for the energy saving CFLs, William expected to see a savings of almost $200 per year!  Seeing this energy savings, he decided to continue on the path of energy savings and signed up for a Home Energy Solutions assessment.  Not only that, but he also chose to support his town by signing up for the CT Clean Energy Options program.

William chose to take advantage of the insulation rebate for oil heated homes after his friends touted the benefits of insulation.  It’s only November, yet he’s already enjoying the benefits of this home energy upgrade.

“The house feels warmer.  It just feels better.  There’s a definite difference.”

After living the benefits of improving his home’s energy efficiency, William says he definitely recommends Neighbor to Neighbor.  “It’s a great thing to do.  It helped us save money, and not use as much scarce resources, such as oil.”

These actions are helping Mansfield reach its energy saving goals and have earned 900 points in the Energy Challenge.  Great job, William!
